Comrade Festus Alenkhe, Chairman of the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has appealed to Nigeria universities management to take a strong stand on giving security architecture on campus the vibrance it deserves.
He made the call while receiving the members of the University of Benin(UNIBEN) Chapter of Association of Campus Journalists (ACJ) led by its President Collins Odabi who paid him a courtesy call on Wednesday.
Responding to the remarks of Odabi that his team is interested in building and deepening a relationship with the NUJ, Comrade Alenkhe expressed worries about the recent cult related killing that occurred inside the male hostel of the University of Benin, Ugbowo Campus.
Alenkhe counselled universities management team to give security architecture on campus the vibrancy it deserves to curtail the recent seeming rise of criminality on campuses.
Going further, he adviced the Campus Journalists to be up to date with the tenets and ethics of the journalism profession adding that this will no doubt stand them in good stead in carrying out their assignments.
He assured the visitors that the NUJ will be readily available for any support that they desire in the course of carrying out their assignments adding that their contribution to the growth of the journalism profession cannot be wished away.
