The sad news just coming in is the death of ex-Nigeria international soccer star, Ibrahim Babangida.
Ibrahim, who was one of the shinning stars of Nigeria’s age grade team, Under 17, at the FIFA World Cup in Japan 1993, died in a ghastly autocrash along the Kaduna – Zaria Road today.
Also said to have been involved in the accident was his elder brother, Tijani Babangida, himself a former Nigerian international soccer star who is now the President of the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria(PFAN) who escaped unhurt and his wife who was injured.
In his life time, Ibrahim among other achievements played for NUB FC Kaduna, Stationery Stores FC of Lagos(aka Flaming Flamingoes) and represented Nigeria in Under 17 and Under 20Â age grade competitions.Â
Information reaching Popular News is that his burial arrangements will be arranged in due course by the family members.
