National Association of Postgraduate Students(NAPS), University of Benin, has honoured Patience Ndidi Uwagboe Key who is aspiring to succeed Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, next year on the platform of the Peoples Redemption Party(PRP) with an award of excellence “in recognition of your exceptional achievement in your chosen career and valuable contributions to society and humanity in general.”
While accepting the award on behalf of Key, the Secretary of the PRP in Edo State, Comrade Jeffrey Imonmoin,
said: “Patience Ndidi Key, a gubernatorial aspirant, and a visionary leader, embodies the ideals of perseverance, dedication, and service to humanity – principles that the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) upholds fervently.
“This Award of Excellence is not just a recognition of her past achievements but a testament to the faith you have placed in her potential to drive transformative change in Edo State.”
Going further, he stressed: “I thank the National Association of Post-graduate Students for this honor and vow to continue striving for excellence in all our endeavors. Together, let us envision and work towards an Edo State where education, innovation, and excellence lead the way.”
Edeaghe Ehikhamenor, a senior lecturer at the University of Benin, Benin City, and the founder/national coordinator of Save Accident Victims Association of Nigeria (SAVAN) who is also the pioneer project coordinator of Forensic Research and Development Center (FORDEC), in his lecture on the impact of climate change on social and economic development in Nigeria called for caution on the way the phenomenon is handled as it could degenerate to total disaster in a few years to come.
In her submission, Orode Uduaghan,
Honorable Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Girl Child Development in Delta State, said: “if you look back one hundred years from where Nigeria is coming somethings would not have changed if we don’t keep talking about them. For example the rights of women and children.
“We need to keep having this sort of conversation; we need to keep advocating for children; advocating for irregular migration; advocating for things like climate change. And all of these changes start from you as Postgraduate Students.”
Apart from Key some eight other notable personalities were also accorded honour of an award. Some of the awardees include Orode Uduaghan and the Vice Chancellor of the Benson Idahosa University(BIU), Benin, Professor Sam Guobadia.
