Comrade Festus Alenkhe, Chairman of the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has told members of the Council who are operating digital online publications that the council is ready to work with them provided that they operate within rules and guidelines of the union.
He made the pledge in his maiden meeting with the members of the digital/online publications in Edo State who operate on the banner of the Online Media Practitioners(OMP).
After spelling out the minimum qualification to be met before being recognised as a member which includes registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission(CAC) and is in line with the constitution of the NUJ, Comrade Alenkhe advised the members to, in the nearest possible time, make a list of their qualified members available to the leadership of the Council for onward transmission to the national headquarters of the NUJ in Abuja.
He charged them to always obey the code of the journalism profession while publishing their reports to avoid attracting litigations.
In their response the OMP members thanked Comrade Alenkhe for his fatherly disposition to their affairs with a promise to always operate within the ambit of the NUJ constitution.
