Chairman of the Labour Party(LP) in Edo State, Comrade Kelly Ogbaloi, has asserted that the infighting between some national officers of the party is healthy and acceptable taking into cognisance that it is an organisation.
“Ours is an organisation and altercations cannot be taken away. These are normal issues which strengthen an organisation so that it can face its duties critically. That’s what is going on.
“Conflicts are not extremely bad as they have their advantages too. We disagree to agree. At any point in time anybody at the level of the National Working Committee (NWC) member can disagree with some of the policies and opinions being pushed by the party.
“What is important is that where such disagreement happens we are able to take charge of it and ensure that it is rested. And that’s the situation today,” he submitted.
Reacting to a question on the call for financial support by the party hierarchy, Ogbaloi said: “At any point in the life of a political party you can call for support because the general elections that we are going into is not a mere business.
“Also, you should know that LP is free from all acts of corruption that came from quite a lot of these things we see in government. So, if we ask for support that is what we must do no matter if we’re close to elections or not.
“A reasonable political party which wants to free itself from taking what does not belong to it in terms of pilfering government fund and fund not meant for it should openly ask people for support and that’s what we are doing.”
