Comrade Paul Omo Okojie, a prominent businessman and seasoned media consultant, has officially declared his intention to contest for the Edo Central Senatorial seat under the Labour Party(LP).

The declaration ceremony, which was held at the party’s secretariat in Ogbelaka Street in Benin City, drew a large gathering of party faithful, community leaders, and supporters who hailed Okojie’s decision as a step toward transformative leadership.

Okojie, who has built a reputation as a dynamic entrepreneur and a skilled media strategist, is well-known for his contributions to community development and advocacy for transparent and accountable governance.

His declaration to contest the senatorial race has been met with widespread interest, as many believe his blend of business acumen and media expertise would position him uniquely to represent Edo Central effectively and efficiently.

Speaking to a cheering audience at the LP Secretariat, Okojie outlined his vision for the senatorial district, emphasizing the need for innovative and people oriented leadership.

“Our people deserve a representative that understands the challenges of today’s world—unemployment, lack of infrastructure, poor healthcare services which he said, he is ready to tackle with proven practical solutions. I am here to be that representative,” he said.

Okojie highlighted key areas of focus which includes the promotion of entrepreneurship, youth development and empowerment, small scale business for women and the vulnerable, sponsoring of bills that has direct impact on the senatorial district and leveraging technology for development.

“As someone who has developed and navigated the business world and the media space, I understand how to create opportunities and amplify the voices of the underserved. Edo Central needs a fresh perspective, and I am ready to deliver that,” Okojie stressed.

The LP’s Edo State Chairman. Rt. Hon. Elizabeth Ativie, commended Comrade Okojie’s track record in the business world, saying his commitment to service no doubt will give him victory at the poll.

“Okojie as an aspirant, has the credibility and capacity to bring real change. Paul Omo Okojie has demonstrated leadership in the business and media sectors. We believe he will bring the same passion and effectiveness to the senate if he gets the party ticket,” Ativie said.

Okojie’s declaration has stirred excitement within Edo Central, where many residents view him as a beacon of hope in a political climate often dominated by career and moneybag politicians. However, he faces stiff competition from other aspirants in his party and entrenched candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Undaunted, Okojie expressed confidence in the LP’s growing popularity and his grassroots support.

“This is not just about winning an election; it is about charting a new course for our people. Together, we can make Edo Central the pride of Nigeria if I am given the mandate,” he affirmed.

As the January 18th Edo Central Senatorial bye elections draws near, Comrade Okojie expects the party leaders to act swiftly so he can focus heavily on engaging with constituents and presenting a vision rooted in progress and inclusivity. His supporters, believe if he gets the party’s ticket it symbolize a shift toward more pragmatic and people-centered politics in Edo Central.
