Edo born boxer threatens to devour Togolese opponent in world title fight


Alex Ekhorowa (aka Alex Rudd) has vowed to devour his opponent, Komlangan Anani Mathieu of Togo, in the world boxing bout coming up in Benin City on Saturday, August 14th, 2021.

The Edo born lightweight pugilist is putting his acts together in preparation for the bout which is with an Ivorian import. The fight is under the auspices of Global Boxing Federation(GBF) and has been endorsed by the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control(NBB of C).

The bout which has been postponed severally in the past three years with different opponents according to Alex, will be a big statement especially for those who don’t seem to have a belief in his prowress.

“I am assuring boxing fans that I won’t let them down as the belt will not leave Nigeria. It would surely be a fight to finish and I am assuring that I will come out victorious,” Alex boasted.

What’s fuelling Alex’s boast is the very big morale boosting support that he is getting from the former governor of Edo State, Chief Lucky Igbinedion. 

The sports loving politician has made available the use of his indoor private gym and sports complex cum estate situated in the GRA part of Benin free of any cost to Alex who trains there without hindrance all day long.

“My training schedule is very straight forward and coordinated. Starting from as early as 8am I am in the gym working out for morning session. By 11am I go for a short break and return to training once more by 3pm to 6pm for afternoon session.

“My biggest inspiration and support is coming from Chief Lucky Igbinedion, the sports loving former governor of Edo State. He has made his private gym and sports village situated in Etete, GRA, Benin available for me and my coaching crew at no extra cost. 

“Some days when I finish my morning session I stay behind, take a nap of say two hours and return to my training exercise in the afternoon through evening.

“I will definitely not let him down and that is the inspiration that I am delving on the make a mincemeat of any opponent that I eventually face,” Alex submitted.
