Alenkhe calls for unity in NUJ

Chairman of the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Festus Alenkhe represented by the Council’s Secretary, Comrade Andy Egbon, has called for unity in the council.

He made the call while flagging open the maiden edition of the ITV/Radio Chapel’s Quarterly Games which held at its Communication Village in Iguosa via Oluku on Wednesday morning.

He urged the participants to exhibit sportsmanship and show the stuff for which champions are made.

In his speech, the General Manager of ITV/Radio, Engr. Elvis Obaseki, said that sports is a unifying factor. He appealed to all the participants to embrace fair play and friendliness all through the duration.

Special Guest of Honour on the occasion, Ambassador Jude Airie, commended the chapel for its initiative in organising the games and promised he will always be offering it his support whenever it is required.

In her welcome speech, Chairman of the Chapel, Best Mbiere Orator, said the idea of the games came as a way of creating some form of recreation, fun for the staff. She appealed to the participants to exhibit sportsmanship all through.

She promised that in the coming years the standard of the games will go higher. Eighty one participants are taking part in the games that feature Draught, Ayo, Whort, Table Tennis, Snooker and Football.

Prizes worth over a million naira would be shared by winners and others at the games which closes on Saturday afternoon.
