Accord Party lose over 1000 members to Action Alliance in Edo

It was jubilation and merriment galore at the secretariat of the Action Alliance(AA) in Benin City last weekend as the party harvested over a thousand members of the Accord Party(AP) as a result of the infighting in the latter party.

The defection, according to the chairman of the AA, Engr. Israel Guobadia, will rejuvenate the strength of the party.

He urged Governor Godwin Obaseki to provide a level playing field for a free and fair local government elections coming up in a short while.

Guobadia stated that his party will field credible candidates in the elections who will come out victorious if the exercise passes integrity test.

“We welcome the defectors with open hands. Before today, we have known one another on the field. We  know their pedigree, their strength, and doggedness.

“Having come to join us, we are very happy. Their defection to AA will double the strength with robust ideas. The defectors have come to a party where their voices would be heard and political aspirations would be met in the party that is transparent and operate as a family. They did not make any mistake,” he stated.

Speaking earlier, chairman of Accord Party (AP) in Oredo Local Government Area of the State, Mr. Oviasu Ehigiator, who led the defectors accused the leadership of his former party of ostensibly floating a non-existent bank loan for its members before last September governorship election in the state which turned out to be a scam.
