According to Ambassador Ugbo prices of food items, commodities, building materials etc keeps escalating in Edo State but the governor is sitting lameduck without taking any proactive step to curtail the cascading prices.

“There is a general hike in prices of food items, commodities, building materials like sand supplies, gravel, cement etc across the state because of the unscrupulous and evil market unions and this is what they are also doing to essential services like petroleum products.

“Governor Obaseki should come out and make a pronouncement in condemnation of these evil acts. His election in 2016 and in 2020 were all geared towards ensuring that he keeps to his promise to make life easy for the people.

“He should stop his current stance of standing aloff as if nothing is amiss. He should stand up to be counted as leading the Vanguard of those defending the rights and aspirations of Edolites.”

Going further, Ambassador Ugbo said: “The Governor should immediately set up a Price Control Committee and call the evil market unions to order or get them arrested for causing undue hardship on the people of Edo State because this day to day increases of prices of goods and services only happens in Edo State.”
