Chief Dan Osi Orbih, the National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in the South South region, has disclosed that he took a long break from the political news of his home state, Edo, because he had very fundamental differences with the way his party was running the affairs of the state.

He made the disclosure while receiving Best Orator, the CEO of BeeTV, who led her crew on a courtesy visit to him in his expansive home in GRA, Benin and to invite him to grace the media outfit’s first anniversary celebration coming up on the 9th December.

According to him, “for sometime, I have deliberately stayed out of Edo political news for very obvious reasons. I had very fundamental differences with the way my party was running the affairs of the state especially in the relationship with different people in the state.

“I also felt it was not right for me to come out publicly to condemn the things the outgoing governor was doing both in my party and in the politics of the state.

“I remember vividly that when he was driven out of APC and he moved over to PDP I joined many others to give him accommodation and I led the campaign that brought him back for a second term.

“I felt morally it was not right for me to go public to express my disappointment at the way he conducted the affairs of this state in the last four years. But thank God his time is over.”

Going further, Chief Orbih averred: “We pray that God will give the incoming governor the wisdom to do far better than Godwin Obaseki. Sometimes we learn in a very hard way. I believe what transpired in the last four years are lessons to be learnt by practicing and future politicians.

“It’s better not to learn through the hard way. It’s better for people to correct themselves and I believe those who were at a distance watching the events as they played out in Edo State would have a whole lot to say years after about how PDP threw away the opportunity to remain relevant in the government of the state.

“It would be a subject of another time when I will have time to interact with the press and give them the whole perspective of what happened in PDP and why we lost in Edo State. But for now what I can say is that I wish the incoming governor well.”

Chief Orbih disclosed that Orator has been a very industrious journalist whose dedication to work has marked her out as a trailblazer in all aspects of the profession. He commended her for playing the role of a mentor to the horde of young people that she has also given employment opportunities, adding “I don’t have any doubt in my mind that some of them in the near future will also excel.”

At the next port of call, Senator Mathew Urhoghide, who represented Edo South District between 2015 and 2023, showered encomium on Orator for her resilience over the years and urged her to keep the flag flying high.

Hon. Razak Bello-Osagie, who represented Oredo Federal Constituency between 2011 and 2015, who was in company of Senator Urhoghide, commended her for her knack for hardwork and dedication. He charged her not to rest on her oars.
