This is a trying period for students of the Western Delta University(WDU), Oghara in Delta State under sponsorship by the IDPs Camp, Uhogua, Edo State.

They face imminent ouster from the institution over non payment of tuition fees running up to N116, 323,000(one hundred and sixteen million, three hundred and twenty-three thousand naira).

In a letter signed by E. 0. Ofotokun Ag. Registrar and forwarded to Pastor Solomon Folorunsho, the founder of the Home for the Needy, which houses the IDPs in Uhogua, the Western Delta University said that “this significant debt poses a substantial challenge to the University’s operations, as we rely heavily on timely tuition payments.”

WDU stressed that its management “has decided to take drastic action to recover the debt. Consequently, all your sponsored students will not be permitted to sit for the upcoming first semester exammations until this debt is settled.

“We advise you to provide comprehensive payment schedule to ensure the significant reduction of this indebtedness. We expect a prompt response regarding this matter.”

Reacting to the letter in a chat with the press, Pastor Folorunsho said: “It’s one of the emergencies that have come on our children from several schools. This is just one among many and we have over 60 students in this school in 400 and 500 levels. We need a miracle.”
