TODAY, Dr. Solomon Ehigiator Arase, a retired Inspector-General of the Nigeria Police(IGP) and renowned philanthropist, celebrates his 69th birthday. As he marks this milestone, his life’s work and legacy serve as a testament to his unwavering commitment to public service, education, and community development.

Dr. Arase’s distinguished career in the Nigeria Police Force(NPF) was marked by his exceptional leadership, integrity, and dedication to reforming the institution. As the 18th Inspector-General of Police, he implemented significant reforms and strengthened the force’s intelligence gathering capabilities.

Beyond his public service, Dr. Arase has been instrumental in promoting education and community development through his philanthropic initiatives. Through the Mercy Igbe Arase Nee Ifidon Foundation, he has provided scholarships to indigent students at various levels of education, dupported skills-based training programs in Polytechnics and technical institutions, empowered young people to become productive members of society.

Dr. Arase’s philanthropic efforts have had a profound impact on the lives of many. His commitment to education has enabled countless students to access quality education, thereby breaking the cycle of poverty and empowering them to become agents of change in their communities.

As usual, the Solomon Ehigiator Arase Foundation (SEAF) proudly hosts its Annual Scholarship Grant, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to educational empowerment, youth development, and social upliftment. Founded on the core values of integrity, service, and excellence—hallmarks of Dr. Solomon Ehigiator Arase’s distinguished career—the Foundation continues to invest meaningfully in the future of Nigerian students through structured academic support.

This year’s scholarship program recognizes and supports outstanding students enrolled in tertiary institutions across Nigeria who have demonstrated academic merit, leadership potential, and a dedication to community service. The grant is designed not only to alleviate financial barriers but also to inspire excellence, resilience, and purpose-driven scholarship among recipients.

It also serves as a platform to celebrate student achievement while honoring the enduring legacy of Dr. Arase—a visionary public servant and advocate for justice and youth empowerment.

As the Foundation continues to grow its impact, the scholarship program remains a cornerstone of its mission: building a stronger, more equitable society through education. This initiative underscores SEAF’s belief that investing in young minds today lays the foundation for a more progressive and prosperous Nigeria tomorrow.

The scope of the scholarship grant encompasses children of deceased rank and file Police Officers and students from the Seven Local Government Areas in Edo South who have distinguished themselves in their academic journey. The breakdown of beneficiaries are listed below; Medicine & Surgery -13, Dentistry -1, Mechanical Engineering-1, Political Science – 1, Remote Sensing & Geoscience Information System – 1, Business Administration- 1, Agricultural Economics & Extension – 1, Criminology & Security Studies -1, Guidance & Counseling -2, Biology Education -1, Pharmacy- 1, History and Diplomatic Studies – 1, Language & Linguistics- 1, Microbiology-1, Science Laboratory Technology-1, and Human Nutrition & Dietetics-1.

As Dr. Arase celebrates his 69th birthday, his life’s work serves as an inspiration to others. His legacy reminds us of the importance of giving back to our communities and investing in the next generation.
