Iyamu Osaro Culture – Coordinator General and Kelvin Omukoro – Assistant Secretary of Niger Delta People Confederation(NDPC) have signed a statement warning Sheikh Ahmed Gumi to stop his unwarranted attack on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike.
The statement read: “It is often said that when a purpose of an action is undefined, abuse becomes inevitable so liken to the misdemeanour of Sheikh Ahmed Gumi whose stock in trade is to always dish out inflammatory statements and attack on those who hold contrary view or belief against his religion and faith.
“Thus, the recent attack on the Minister of Federal Capital Territory is not new to us but what we will not accept is his attempt to bully the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, His Excellency Nyesom Wike for receiving the Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria in his office which is part of his constitutional responsibility and obligation to extend hands of engagements to all kind of faiths/religious, colours/background, ethnic groups.
“For avoidance of doubt, Federal Capital Territory belong to all Nigerians and no one or ethnic group or religion should claim ownership. It is important to state that it is still fresh in our memories how Sheikh Ahmed Gumi was making cases for killer herdsmen across the country and negotiating payment of ransom for the release of kidnapped victims and rehabilitation/empowerment of same killer herdsmen/kidnappers for the past 8 years.
“Therefore, Sheikh Ahmed Gumi can’t be taken serious because he doesn’t belong to this part of the world judging by his well-known support for killer herdsmen.
“To this end, we therefore call on security operatives to arrest Sheikh Ahmed Gumi in order to serve as deterrent to others whose stock in trade is to always set the country on fire through their inflammatory statements.”
