Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu, has expressed deep grief over the demise of Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, while commiserating with the bereaved family, government and the people of the Sunshine State.
In a condolence message he personally signed, the Deputy Governor stated:
“It is with utmost grief that l received the sad news of the passing of my friend and brother, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State.
“He distinguished himself as an exceptional legal luminary, an intellectual who represented the rare breed of Nigeria’s progressive political class”.
“For me, he was a close friend and confidant, as we both shared a high level of cordiality and mutual conviviality like brothers.”
“My great friend and brother as Governor of Ondo State, made giant strides in transforming the Sunshine State and impacted the lives of his people in many positive ways.
“I am convinced that history will be kind to him as a pleasant personality who played his part and left behind, remarkable footprints in the sands of time.
“Let me commiserate with the government and the good people of Ondo State, particularly his immediate family, political associates and friends on the irreparable loss of an illustrious Nigerian.
“May the good Lord accept the repose of his gentle soul,” Shaibu added.
On Rt. Hon. Ghali Na’Abba, Comrade Shaibu, commiserated with the family saying: “I am deeply saddened by the shocking news of the passing of Hon Ghali Na’ Abba, former Speaker of the House of Representatives”.
“He lived a pious and exemplary life, dedicated to the patriotic service of Nigeria, our dear country and humanity in general.
“Hon Ghali Na’ Abba was a distinguished parliamentarian whose stewardship as the number one legislator in the green chamber of the National Assembly, provided stability, cohesion across party line and indeed, mutual collaboration with the executive arm of government.
“He was an exemplar of a refined and progressive politician who meant well for his people, while advancing the noble ideals of a better Nigeria for the good of the majority.
“I condole with the government and good people of Kano State, as well as the bereaved family members, loved ones, political associates and friends on the collosal loss of a great patriot of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“May his gentle soul finds eternal rest in the bosom of Almighty Allah, the most magnificent and benevolent,” Shaibu added.
