Rights activist, others honoured by American university

Human rights activist and President of the One Love Foundation, Chief Patrick Osagie Eholor, has added another feather to his cap by way of his been honoured by the US based Rescue Mission Theological University with a honorary doctorate degree in humanity.

The award programme which took place last weekend in Benin City also have several others like Nollywood movie maker, Ambassador Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen and proprietor of Doris Dey Hotel, Chief Doris Oboh who were equally awarded honorary doctorate degrees in other areas of life achievements.

In his remarks, Professor Greg Stevens, the Vice Chancellor of the institution’s Africa Satellite Campus, said that the awardees were honoured for their achievements in numerous aspects of life endeavours.

While accepting the honour bestowed on him, Chief Eholor stated that it was a call for him to do more, promising that he would continue to fight for the freedom of mankind at all times. He reminiscenced on the endsars protests which reverberated all of the country in 2020 and dedicated his award to victims of the brutality that was meted to the protesters at Lekki Tollgate in Lagos.

He condemned the continued lock up of Nigeria universities for the past five months lambasting the government for not showing any iota of feelings for the future of education and indeed the youths population by its action thus far as it relates to finding a solution to the crisis.

The occassion, which was witnessed by a mammoth crowd of well wishers of the awardees, was spiced up with entertainment and cultural displays.
