The last has not been heard of the turbo jet like confusion that has crept into the Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) where the faction loyal to the state governor, Godwin Obaseki is testing its strength against the faction led by the National Vice Chairman of the party, Chief Dan Osi Orbih.
Information reaching our news desk is that the governor’s option of using his proxies to initiate a court case to stop Chief Orbih and a host of the party’s leaders from participating in the forthcoming Convention of the party was informed by the fact that the list of delegates which he had a fore knowledge of were not his supporters.
It was gathered that as soon as Governor Obaseki got the list of delegates from Edo State and observed that it does not reflect his ideal he flared up and immediately got in touch with his proxies in the party to initiate the court process baring his perceived opponents from taking part in the National Congress coming up on the 30th and 31st of October in Abuja.
Meanwhile, there has been an uproar with the gist making the rounds that the governor mounting pressure on the chairman of the party in the state, Tony Aziegbemi, to accept his faction’s list.
In a phone call put across to Aziegbemi, he insisted that the party’s state publicity secretary, Chris Nehikhare, would be in a better position to answer enquiries but which the latter declined vehemently.
It would be recalled that at the point of defecting to the PDP with a horde of his supporters to clinch the party’s gubernatorial ticket in 2020, Governor Obaseki was said to have paid some top officials of the party(local and national) and three aspirants, Barrister Kenneth Imansuangbon, Engr. Gideon Ikhine and Hon. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama over N15billion.
