Speaking to journalists in Benin City today, the embattled father said the cultists attacked his son the second time within a few weeks last week Saturday at the Idogbo axis of the bye-pass over what was supposed to be inter family matter.

“The first time, they stormed my son’s house in a gang of six. Last weekend, twelve of them came and destroyed valuable property but my son escaped before they could hurt him,” he lamented.

Going further, he said: “On each occasion, they boasted of being boys of a prominent Benin politician who is ready to release them without spending a night in the cell.

“But the politician they mentioned is known to us to be too civil and a peaceloving gentleman to identify with hoodlums.

“So I believe they are dropping his good name, probably because they hale from the same community,” the father reasoned.

“I am now calling for protection from the AIG Zone 5 after my lawyer informed me that a seniour police officer from the family of the suspect has expressed solidarity with the hoodlums and boasted that he will transfer the case to AIG Zone 5 where he can ‘control’ the investigation.

“I am appealing to the AIG Zone 5 not to allow the said officer, who is serving under him, use his office to aid and protect criminals as it’s becoming obvious that he is the one dragging the name of the innocent politician into it.

“Rather, the anti-cultism unit of the Edo State Command should be allowed to conduct its investigation without interruption or intimidation,” the Native Doctor pleaded.
