His Royal Majesty, King Monday Whiskey, Udurhie 1, Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom in Delta State, has foreseen the Federal Government increasing the percentage of allocation to oil producing communities in the newly signed Petroleum Industry Act(PIA) by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He made the clarification while speaking exclusively with Popular News in his Palace in Jesse, Delta State recently.

He said: “The issue of 3 percent came to some of us as a surprise. I made a presentation to the National Assembly on the allocation of that fund. Our people had expected that the Federal Government should consider 10percent or the least 5percent.

“But it had turned out this way. As royal fathers we do not express our displeasure in the open. Our position is to counsel government. Our position is to advice government.

“The government want to see what is coming out of the 3percent and would be forced to increase the money soonest because the volume of damage; the volume of neglect; the volume of deprivation in the Niger Delta is so colossal that 3percent is a meagre money.

“It is better to spend money providing facility than spend money making peace.”

Before his ascension of the throne about a year ago, King Whiskey was the spokesman of the association of oil producing communities in the Niger Delta region.
