Benin Traditional Council(BTC) has postponed all activities marking the fifth coronation anniversary of the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare11, as a result of the recent burial programme of an illustrious son of the land, Captain Idahosa Wells Okunbo(aka Captain Hosa).
The action of the BTC which is a rarity is seen as a high mark of honour that the revered Benin monarch has for the deceased multibillionaire.
Making the announcement, the Secretary of the Benin Traditional Council(BTC), Frank Irabor said: “The Benin Traditional Council(BTC) on behalf of His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare Il, Oba of Benin, wishes to inform the general public that as a result of the demise of Captain Idahosa Wells Okunbo, and his burial few days ago, His Royal Majesty has directed that all the events lined up to mark the fifth coronation anniversary celebration of His Royal Majesty on 20th October, 2021 should be postponed in honour of the late Captain Hosa Wells Okunbo, who was an illustrious son of Edo State in whom we were well pleased.
“May his gentle soul continue to rest in peace.”
It would be recalled that His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare11, ascended the throne on October 12th, 2016.
