Chairman of the PDP National Campaign Council for the Edo Governorship election and Rivers State Governor, Mr. Nyesom Wike, is reportedly leading a team of other PDP Governors temporarily relocating to the Benin City, Edo State capital, ahead of the Sept. 19 election to finalize and monitor alleged vote-buying plans.

This was according to the APC in a statement endorsed by the State Media Campaign Council, on Wednesday.

APC Media Campaign Council says their temporary relocation to the state capital was decided at a recent secret meeting chaired by Governor Nyesom Wike “to perfect the PDP’s vote-buying plans” in Edo State after their “empty” campaigns showed the impossibility of victory for them in a fair contest.

APC said: “Obaseki’s god-father, the one who aptly christened his party, a corrupt gathering of tax-collectors when a disagreement broke out amongst them on how to share the 15 billion naira loot brought by the embattled Edo Governor to purchase the PDP’s ticket, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State recently convened and chaired a secret meeting over the Sept. 19 Governorship election in Edo State.

“At the meeting, it was agreed that their empty campaigns across the state, despite the strenuous movement of Obaseki’s army of newly-appointed SAs and SSAs across wards to serve as crowd-fillers for the cameras, have shown that they have no realistic chance of winning the election.

“Hence, Mr. Nyesom Wike, who desperately wants his newly-acquired stooge to remain at the helm for another four years so he can serve him well in a mulled ambition further down the road, has directed that other PDP Governors commit more funds to a designed vote-buying plot and relocate temporarily to Benin City to monitor the disbursement of the funds and execution of the illegal plan.

“These PDP tax-collectors, in their warped thinking, are strategizing on the misguided belief that the people of Edo State make electoral decisions based on the ‘cash and carry’ ideology that has ravaged their party and resulted in their enthroning of a stranger as their leader and candidate in exchange for an ill-gotten 15 billion naira. But they will receive the biggest shock of their lives on the 19th of September.”

APC called on the security agencies and INEC to strengthen their operations and protect the integrity of the election from the alleged rigging plans of the PDP. The party also tasked local and international observers on an expansive network to uncover and report agents already recruited by the PDP to execute its vote-buying plans.
