New kids on the bloc give a taste of what will be the next big deal in Nollywood

The third edition of the Benin Film Academy festival of short films and graduation was held on Thursday, December 17th, 2020, amid pomp and pageantry.

The 250 guests capacity hall of the Kada Cinema and Entertainment Centre on Sapele Road, Benin City, was filled with enthusiastic guests who had come to witness the star filled show.

Guests and movie stars came in large numbers all dressed up in glittering attires and basking in the grandeur of the show as paparazzi laid in wait to capture some of the highlights of the day ranging from presentation of the movies produced, edited and packaged by the new kids on the bloc.

Notable Nollywood stars and filmmakers were presented with awards of recognition amongst them were Director Ugezue J. Ugezue, Charles Inojie, Amen Imasuen, Queen Nwokoye and Mr. Trevor Pilltya, Managing Director, Kada Cinema and Entertainment Centre.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor of the Igbinedion University, Okada, represented the Vice Chancellor, Prof Ezemoye at the epoch event.

To commemorate the show short films produced by the graduating students were screened to the admiration of the audience.

In his welcome speech, the Director of Benin Film Academy, Amb Okpioba Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen said their targets were the youths so as to curb youths restiveness and unemployment, tackle insecurity and much more. He said that the entertainment industry remains a major tool to fight these negative vices in our society.

Among the high calibre guests who graced the occasion are Hon. Orobosa Omo-Ojo, Comrade Okpioba Aiyemekhue Edokpolor, Chief Owen Obaseki, Otunba Ayodele Akindele. Also in attendance was Mrs Eniye Asomgba, Zonal Director, Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board.
