NDLEA scores high point in curbing drug abuse in Edo

National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA) has since commenced attack on drug barons, illicit drug users, drug abusers, drug dealers and its like nationwide.

According to the recent news on the operations of the agency, no fewer than thirty states are under pressure over the dogged operations of the agency.

In an observation, Edo State seems to be very much free from the attack launched by the agency recently.

An observer who chose to remain anonymous said, “there were years when Edo State was a safe haven for drug abusers, drug dealers and drug barons. Those were the years parents were not informed of the persistent activities of drug dealers.

“Today, in our schools, we have scheme of work for drug free sensitisation. Even in our National Youth Service Corps(NYSC) there’s this NDLEA Community Development Service(CDS).

“So, the agency has really done well in the fight against illicit drug intakes, destructive drug dealers and merchandise of drug abuse. We are really happy Edo is not under attack by the agency.

“Not that there are no drug dealers in Edo. But the ability of the agency in the state to curb their unwanted activities, have really spur the result we see today. Kudos to the operatives of the agency in Edo. How I wished other states can understudy Edo NDLEA,” he said.

In a visit to the State Secretariat of the agency in order to ascertain the secret behind the success, the premises of the agency was seen with vehicles impounded from suspected drug barons who were transiting through Edo State to some other states. Some of the vehicles were of high standard Sports Utility Vehicle(SUV).

The agency, though lacks conducive office space, has also relocated senior operatives to the veranda for use as office space which is not fair for the officers.

Attempt to seek the opinion of the State Commander was not successful as he was said to be away on an official assignment.
