A group, Concern Edo Youth, has called on the anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to arrest and investigate the Coordinator of the Edo Public Safety and Response(PSR) Team, Kelly Okungbowa(aka Ebo Stone), for allegedly violating a section of the CBN act by spraying and mutilating the naira.

In the petition signed by its President, Comrade Gbale Joseph, the Concern Edo Youth stated that the petition was written “following a very disturbing video which has gone viral of one Mr. Kelly Okungbowa, who is an appointee of the Edo State Government and currently the Coordinator of Edo State Public Safety Response Team where Mr. Kelly was seen spraying and mutilating the naira at a lounge/bar allegedly owned by him, precisely on the 9th day of March, 2025 indicated at Ihama, Benin City.

“While one will expect that government officials are supposed to be role model and seen to be working in accordance with the land, we are however bewildered by this show of shame and complete shenaniganism and hence our demand for his arrest and investigation as Mr. Okungbowa has violated section 21(3) of the CBN act.

“We wish to commend the Economic and Financial Crimes, commission an anti-graft and law enforcement agency for their swift response of defending and protecting the naira by arresting and charging some notable individuals to court for naira abuse offense, spraying of naira and defacing the naira in social events base on obvious and undeniable videos like in the case of Mr. Okuneye Idris Olarewaju (aka Bob Risky) who was sentenced to six months jail term and Mr. Pascal Okechukwu (aka Cubana Chief Priest) who were arranged before Justice Kehinde Ogundare on a three count bordering on abuse of naira by allegedly spraying and tampering with the nation’s currency at an event as this is an act of courage and patriotism.

The group stated that failure by the EFCC to arrest and investigate Okungbowa “Edo youths will have no choice than to go on a peaceful protest to your office and also institute a legal action against the commission, as the commission will be seen as been selective.

“And we wish to state emphatically that Edo people and the world is watching and they are seriously interested in knowing the outcome of this petition.”
