A former federal lawmaker, Honourable Godfrey Ali Gaiya, have congratulated the Flying Eagles for qualifying for the last four of the U-20 AFCON in Egypt. The team in the process picked one of the African four tickets for the FIFA U20 World Cup later in the year in Indonesia.
The Ladan Bosso boys picked the World Cup ticket last Thursday after a 1-0 victory over the Junior Cranes of Uganda.
Gaiya said, “First, I congratulate the team for making it to the last four and hence qualifying for the U20 World Cup. The team needs to improve in scoring goals. The goal haul needs to be more.
“The fun of age group competition is to see goals. The team needs to be attack-minded, let’s attacking football be their best form of defence.
“The coaching crew should build the team purely from home-based players only. We don’t have to start bringing players outside the home football. This will improve our football development and encourage players down here to put their best.
“The administrators must only invite players within age range. We don’t need to cheat just to win. Our aim is to develop talents from age groups to international stardom, who will dominate the game for a long time.”
