The last has definitely not been heard about the life and times of Solomon Ehigiator Arase, the former Inspector General of Police(IGP) of Nigeria who passed on at the Cedarcrest Hospital, Abuja in the early hours of Sunday, August 31st after what was termed a brief illness.

Since the announcement of his passage controversies have emerged on what really culminated in his death. Mentioned in close quarters is that he suddenly fell sick after an outing in faraway Morocco where he had been a  participant in an international programme.

He was reportedly rushed back to Nigeria and taken to the Cedarcrest Hospital for close monitoring of his situation. It’s been rumoured that he must have died from the effect of food poisoning.

Another point of discussion concerning him is his place of birth. While some people, especially from Owan West in Edo North District, are claiming that he was their son, others, mostly from Edo South District are saying that he was from their district.

His death at 69 came as a big shock to Nigerians as it is being discussed in different circles. Most talked about is his calibre arguably been the most educated indigenous IGP in the country’s history.

He has a Bachelor Degree in Political Science obtained from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) and another Bachelor’s Degree in Law from the University of Benin. He has a Masters Degree in Law from the University of Lagos. Then President Goodluck Jonathan appointed him as the 18th Inspector General of Police (IGP) in April 2015.
