The Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Desmond Enabulele, has assured the leadership of Edo Football Association of the cooperation of his board to ensure a turnaround and sustainable progress in the state football development.
He gave the assurance, weekend, when he played host to the Edo State Football Association members at the Commission’s Secretariat office at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City. He stated that his new board is committed to the overall development of sports including football in the state
Receiving the Fred Erhunmwunse led board of the Edo FA, Enabulele acknowledged that Edo FA is the first association to visit his board officially since their inauguration and assumption of duty. He reiterated that the Commission’s mandate is to develop sports in the state. He, however, expressed worries about the present state he met Bendel Insurance FC in the Nigeria Premier Football League(NPFL) and revealed the Commissions resolve to ensure that the club bounces back to reckoning.
He emphasized on the need for synergy between the Commission and the FA to turn things around for the state’s football, saying that his board is open to the FA and other stakeholders for important ideas that can move Edo sports to an enviable level of development.
Earlier, the Edo FA Chairman, Fred Erhunmwunse, while congratulating the Sports Commission Chairman and members of the Commission, stated that they came to familiarise with the new leadership of the Edo State Sports Commission. The FA boss promised the boss of the Sports Commission of the FA’s loyalty and cooperation.
“We will work closely with the new board of the Commission,” Fred emphasized.
Meanwhile, Enabulele has extended his facility inspection tour beyond the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium as he paid a surprise visit to the state Hockey team during their training at the St. Maria Goretti Mini Stadium where he inspected the facility on the ground. Enabulele and his entourage were received by the Head Coach of Edo Hockey Association, Mr. Sunday Ohiwere and his team who briefed him on the state of affairs.
The Sports Commission boss assured the Hockey Association of better welfare arrangements, saying that his administration is ready to touch all the sports associations positively. He promised to bring a quick relief to them with the provision of changing room and toilet facilities to make the users comfortable.
