Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has disclosed plans to upgrade the Edo College of Agriculture, Iguoriakhi, into a degree-awarding institution with two additional campuses in Agenebode and Uromi.

The governor, who disclosed this to journalists in Benin City, said the plan to convert the Ambrose Alli University into a multi-campus institution, was part of ongoing reforms to upgrade the state-owned school into a world-class institution of learning.

According to Obaseki, “We are upgrading the Edo State College of Agriculture, Iguoriakhi, into a degree-awarding institution with two other campuses in Agenebode and Uromi.

“As a government, our priority is to upgrade our College of Agriculture into three campuses and that the college would be degree-awarding. We are going to have the main campus in Iguoriakhi, another campus in Uromi, and the third in Agenebode.

“The campus in Iguoriakhi is almost completed, while the ones in Agenebode and Uromi would be captured in our next budget,” Obaseki said.

On the conversion of the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma to a tripartite campus, the governor said the two additional campuses in Oredo local council and Owan Federal Constituency will focus on Technology and Engineering Studies as well as Agriculture and Natural Resources respectively.

According to Obaseki, “We are also converting the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, to a multi-campus institution.”The main campus would be in Ekpoma, while the two new campuses would be located in Oredo local government and Owan Federal Constituency. The Oredo campus will focus on technology and engineering, while the sister campus in Owan would be for agriculture and natural resources.”
