Edo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is currently in disarray as two opposing sides – the old PDP and new PDP – are at daggers drawn with each other over who controls the nexus of the party in the state.

The old PDP is led by the Vice Chairman of the party in the South South zone, Chief Dan Osi Orbih while the new PDP is led by the Governor of the state, Godwin Obaseki.

On Thursday afternoon the airwaves was agog with the  news of the suspension of Chief Orbih by elements believed to be loyal to Governor Obaseki in the new PDP.

It was alleged that Chief Orbih was suspended for anti-party activities by the Edo North Senatorial Leadership of the party after a vote of ‘no confidence’ was passed on him.
Others allegedly suspended with Chief Orbih include Segun Saiki, a former member of the state House of Assembly and five PDP LGA party chairmen.

However, responding to the purported suspension of Chief Orbih, the Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Chris Osaretin Nehikhare denied the report saying that it is a fake news. South-South Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been suspended  from the party.

Efforts to get the reaction of Chief Orbih met with a brickwall as calls made to his mobile phone were not picked as there are claims that he must be busy attending the party’s National Executive Council(NEC) meeting holding in Abuja.
