Sir Roland Osakue, the Chairman of the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has stated that if Nigeria has the right approach to leadership the issue of different groups emerging to make a case for good governance would arise.

He made this assertion when the leadership of Mangrove People Leadership Initiative(MAPLI) led by its chairman, Ambassador Bright Omokhodion Annillin paid a courtesy call on the leadership of the union at the NUJ Press Centre, Benin City on Thursday morning.

Earlier, the chairman of the MAPLI, Ambassador Annillin, had informed the NUJ leadership of the association’s desires to right the perceived wrong in the South South region by way of dialoguing and using constitutional means to fight instead of using violent approach.

Listing the association’s ideologies and objectives, Ambassador Annillin said: “to use the initiative as a collective voice of the people of South South to attract attention for economic empowerment and development through established instruments of dialogue and consultation under one voice; to use the initiative to liaise with other relevant organisations and sister NGOs with similar aims and objectives to achieve our targets; to use the initiative as a platform to demand for social welfare and the collective interest of members and the South South region in line with the identified aims and objectives through the instrumentality of sincerity of purpose by the leadership of the group at all levels.”

Other members of the association who were in the entourage included Engr. Isibor Orobosa(Secretary); Imafidon Bowen (Youth Leader); Comrade Aifuwa Desmond (Financial Secretary) and Comrade Effam Pius(Chief Protocol).

On hand to join Sir Roland Osakue to receive the visitors were Comrade Titus Akhigbe (Edo NUJ Secretary) and Otunba Mike Aladenika(Past Chairman of the Edo NUJ).
