Edo State Commissioner of Police, Johnson Babatunde Kokumo, has reacted to the attack of #endsars protesters by some miscreants which led to the death of a yet to be identified young man on Friday afternoon.

The Commissioner has directed the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to commence a full scale investigation into the immediate and remote cause of the murder of a yet to be identified young man by suspected hoodlums at the King’s Square, Benin, on Friday afternoon with a vow to arrest the perpetrators of this dastardly act for prosecution in court accordingly.

In a statement signed by Chidi Nwabuzor, the Public Relations Officer(PRO) of the state Police Command the Commissioner stated that he received with shock the report of gruesome murder of a yet to be identified young man by some suspected hoodlums who attacked the #EndSARS protesters at the Kings Square, Benin City.

“In light of the above, the Commissioner of Police hereby commiserates with the family members of the deceased for his untimely death and pray to God to give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

“He however, appeals to the #EndSARS protesters to end the protest and patiently wait for the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, to implement the Police reforms,” Nwabuzor stated.
