Esan New Era, a group driving the Esan for Governor 2024 project, has appealed to the major political parties to zone their 2024 governorship tickets to Edo Central Senatorial District, assuring that “we have the people with integrity, intellect and capacity to move our state forward as governor. This is the right thing to do in the face of God and man. This will make the spirits of our late political leaders to rest in peace.”
Going down memory lane the group recalled that when Chief Lucky Igbinedion from Edo South “held the political powers in the state, Edo Central lent their support. We are here to remind our brothers and sisters from Edo North, that we, the Edo Central, supported their son, Adams Oshiomhole. We are here to remind Governor Godwin Obaseki, that, in the moment of his political turmoil, the Edo Central accepted him as our own brother from Edo South to continue and complete his second tenure.”
Making his contributions, Prince Emmanuel Odijie said: “we are calling on our political leaders, religious leaders, royal fathers, critical stakeholders, the press, our youths, those who determine what happens in political parties etc. We are appealing to you.
“Competence, capacity does not reside in any senatorial district. There are people in Edo Central that are well read, intelligent, have the capacity, the knowledge, the competence to deliver the greater good for Edo people and to move Edo forward. I would not go to bore you to begin to mention names of great men and women who are from Esan who have contributed so much to nation building in the days of the Western region to the Midwest region, Bendel and to Edo State today.
“This is a reminder of our unity, our strength that our fathers saw in each other.”
He dispelled the insinuatíon that the Esan are divided, saying that they have always been united for progress and development, adding that the 2024 governorship project will be the flag of unity that the Esans will fly around the state.
