Crying for my beloved country

Corrupt people cannot prosecute corrupt people. Nigeria has become a failed state. Insecurity everywhere. Corporate thieves abound in banking halls.

Police brutality. Military invasion of campuses. Customs officials have left the borders to patrol our streets in Benin City. Every Nigerian is out there looking for miracles. Pastors are taking advantage of their gullibility. Traditionalists/herbalists are asking for human parts for ritual purposes.

Desperate times calls for desperate measures. God gave us everything but we trade it all for bad leadership. Immigration officers are selling our passports to foreigners. People queuing up in the bank dying like flies.

No functioning hospital for the poor. No bursary allowance for students. Fuel and cooking gas become essential commodities unaffordable to the poor. Judiciary used to be the last hope of the common man but the common man has lost hope in the judiciary. Some of the judges have no integrity any more.

Governors are acting like warlords. Traditional rulers have been bought over. Lawmakers have become law breakers. A lot of graduates with no employment. Jumbo pay to our legislooters with no impact on their constituencies.

Nigeria has a President who travels overseas for medical check up every three months and insensitive to those who voted him into power. If they can afford malaria medication 100 million Nigerians will sleep tonight without food.

Brain drain is evident in every institution in the country. A country where men are institutions. What a sorry state. I cry for my beloved country.
