Catholic media group honours Edo NUJ Chairman

The Catholic Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (CAMPAN), of the Archdiocese of Benin City, has presented an award of excellence to the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, Comrade Festus Alenkhe, for his contributions to the growth of the church and the association.

The award was presented to Comrade Festus Alenkhe by the Archbishop of the Benin Diocese, Most Rev. Dr Augustine Obiora Akubeze at a special thanksgiving service held at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Benin City to climax the week-long activities to mark the 2022 World Communication Day.

Chairman of CAMPAN, Edo State, Ede Agho, said that Comrade Alenkhe is a man that is deligent in the journalism job.

According to her, Alenkhe who has been of great support to CAMPAN has through his Crime Watch programme in Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS) impacted positively on the society.

In a Communication Day message , Pope Francis tasked media practitioners to uphold the sacredness of truth at all times. The message was delivered by Archbishop Augustine Obiora Akubeze.

He urged journalists to shun fake news and misinformation, while upholding ethical principles in the course of duty.
