All is not well in the camp of the Edo Queens FC of Benin, Nigeria’s flagbearers in the CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU-B. And there are fears that the team may end up as mere participants in the tournament.

As the team departs for Cote D’Ivoire host of the play-off loud grumblings has emanated from the players, backroom staff and even supporters over the high handedness of the team’s Head Coach, Moses Aduku.

Information reaching Popular News is that ahead of the departure of the team to Cote D’Ivoire, Aduku has, without congent reasons, dropped a horde of dedicated players and officials of the team, who played prominent role in ensuring that the team qualified for the tourney, from the travelling party.

The battle cry of the aggrieved individuals, who we learnt have tabled their case before the Edo State Sports Commission Chairman, Olympian Yussuf Alli, is that Aduku thrives in intimidation, harrassment and jealousy.

“As we speak now more than half of the players that played their hearts out in the matches that ensured the team qualified for the Champions League tournament were dropped by Moses Aduku for unknown reasons.

“We have petitioned the Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Olympian Yussuf Alli. But the fear is that he may not be able to do much since he is at the moment not on ground in Nigeria as he is on a special national assignment in France with the Nigerian contingent to the 2024 Olympics Games.

“However, we’re not foreclosing reporting the issue to our patron, and number one fan, the wife of the state governor, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, who all along has been our pillar of support. Mummy would not be happy to hear that her dreams to see us(Edo Queens FC) excel at the international stage is been thwarted by the team handler,” one of the affected players divulged.

Apart from allegations made against Aduku of poor man management skills he is also said not to be as good as he claims to be in his coaching skills as it’s alleged that he exhibits loads of deficiencies on most occasions when the stakes are high.

The CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU-B Play-Off commences on Saturday, August 10th, 2024 in Cote D’Ivoire.
