“Her unwavering commitment to the service of her Creator, community development and humanity at large can best be described as inspirational.

“No doubt, she lived a pious and fulfilled life, having you as a son as an accomplished professional Journalist and Head of one of the most vibrant councils in Nigeria.”

Shaibu expressed his commiseration to the Alenkhe family of Edo State, saying “let me convey my heartfelt condolences to you and through you to the entire family, friends and the journalism family for the painful exit of your matriach.”

In part of his condolence message, the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun described death as an inevitable end for all mortals but stressed that the time is different for all mortals.

Mr Speaker emphasized that to lose a loved one is so painful expecially a mother. He appealed to the NUJ Chairman to take heart and be strong in God as He is all knowing and no one can question Him.

Hon. Onobun called on him to cherish the memories of her time on earth and prayed for the repose of the soul of the departed. He also prayed for God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

In his own message, the Chief of Staff (COS) to the State Government, Hon. Osaigbovo Iyoha, said: “I commiserate with you and members of the Alenkhe family on the passing of your Beloved Mother, Mrs. Rose Alenkhe, who transited to the great beyond on 7 November, 2022 at the age of 76 years.

“There is no doubt that the loss of any member of one’s family can be most distressing, no matter how old. However, we should take solace in the fact that Mama led a very successful life, leaving behind worthy children like you, to mourn her.

“On behalf of my family, accept my heartfelt condolences as you go through this moment of grief. It is my prayer that God will grant you the fortitude to bear this loss.

“May the Gentile Soul of Late Mrs, Rose Alenkhe, Rest in Peace.”
