Hon. Anamero Dekeri, the member representing Etsako Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has promised to continue in his path of affecting the lives of people positively in line with what his late dad, Chief James Sunday Dekeri, was doing in his life time.
The federal lawmaker made the promise in a chat with reporters at the burial of his late dad in Ogute – Oke, Okpella in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State.
He stressed that all the good attributes that his dad imbibed in him have culminated in his establishment of a charity village, Anamero Foundation, to cater for the less privileged.
Talking about his late dad, Hon. Dekeri said: “I have come to realize that it is good to be good. Everybody who knows my father even those that have never met with him will attest to the fact that he was a good man.
“By the grace of God the people that you saw today (at the burial ceremony) are those that have come from far and near to pay my father his deserving last respects.”
In his comment, the senator representing Edo North in the red chambers of the national assembly (NASS), Senator Adams Oshiomhole told Hon. Dekeri and his siblings, “God will grant your father a very special place in paradise. I believe that as we’re here may his good spirit be with you and all children of the family.
“I am sure he is smiling in heaven because God has used you, Hon. Dekeri, to redefine the lives of people in your environment. I was a steward in Edo State as governor, as you prefer to say when you invited me using your own money to build a school for your people using your money to buy exercise books, doing all of those things that I and some others may take for granted.
“But for the ordinary poor person on the street those things have made and are making a difference. May God continue to replenish your pocket. I always say that the spirit of giving you either have it or you lack it. It is not an expression of how much you’re worth.
“There are people who are richer but they cannot give. May your giving spirit continue. And may those who benefit, their tears that you have wiped off their face, may it translate to more prosperity in your pocket.”
The burial ceremony of Chief James Sunday Dekeri, who departed at the age of 90years, was witnessed by serving and former lawmakers (federal and Edo State) and the creme de la creme of the society.
