Tsunami hits PDP in Edo as Assembly Speaker lead many others to APC

In the midst of the report going round the grapevine that the Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki’s faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) have a working relationship whereby he is sponsoring some of his loyalists for the Saturday, March 18th state House of Assembly polls on the ticket of the LP in preparation to thwart alleged plans to impeach him, the Director Contact and Mobilisation of Labour Party in the Diaspora and President One Love Foundation, Chief Patrick Osagie Eholor, has vehemently refuted such claims saying that the two parties represent darkness and light which can never meet.

Said the LP chieftain, “darkness and light can never meet. Labour Party, as of today, is the light of the nation. The PDP is the darkness. There’s no way that PDP and LP will have this unholy romance. We have debunked it. Some people even said that some of our House of Assembly candidates were planted there by Governor Godwin Obaseki.

“Yes, it could have been true that before they knew any better some of the candidates had some feelings for PDP but when they see Obidient they see transparency, truth and honesty. They see character and competence. They decide to stick with us. The idea of comparing apples and oranges shouldn’t be there. We are independent. We are contesting under labour platform. We are not merging with any government agency or political party whatsoever.

“I have a stake in the party. If you hear it from me you are hearing it matter of frankly. You know that Peter Obi and the National Chairman of Labour Party, Julius Abure were in Benin on Saturday. Most of the things you hear are meant to throw us off balance. We are a people who are destined to win so we cannot be distracted.”

On the issue of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) proposing the reconfiguration of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) Chief Eholor said: “we were in court. We wanted to compel INEC to ensure that the reconfiguration is not done and if it is going to be done we need to bring our forensic experts to be there to observe it.

“INEC has shot itself in the feet. There is no way they can get out of this because Professor Mahmood Yakubu assured us. I googled him and 68 times he told Nigerians that there is going to be real time announcement of results. It happened in Kenya. Kenya didn’t spend up to what we spent. We spent over N350 billion on this so no matter what they’re trying to do the world is already aware that our common enemies in this country are the law enforcements and the judges.

“If the judges are able to do what they’re supposed to do and if they respect the rule of law and implement it, sanction people who are taking us for granted it becomes a different thing entirely. Until the judges sit right and do what they swore on oath to Nigeria is going to be in this circumstance. I hope this time around the narrative will change.
