Activist calls for sack of Anambra Police Commissioner for unguarded utterances

Rights activist and President of One Love Foundation, Chief Patrick Osagie Eholor (aka Ultimate Equals), has called on the Inspector General of Police(IGP), Olukayode Egbetokun, to call to order or sack the Anambra State Commissioner of Police (CP), Aderemi Adeoye, for what he described as his unguarded utterances which is out of tune with democratic tendencies as practiced in Nigeria.

The activist was reacting to the utterances credited to Adeoye which speaking on his planned mode of operation to curb the activities of unknown gun men who have been violently enforcing the sit-at-home in the South Eastern part of the country.

Aderemi Adeoye was on Wednesday quoted as saying if losing lives is what it takes to protect the people of Anambra State, the police will stop at nothing to achieve the mandate given to them by the Inspector-General of Police.

In his reaction, Chief Eholor stressed that he is still not sure that Adeoye was quoted rightly but that “if that’s what he really said he is courting trouble the type that will have telling consequences on the country’s nascent democracy.

“CP Aderemi Adeoye of Anambra State Police Command should be called to order or sacked by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olukayode Egbetokun. Adeoye’s utterance is not proper at this period that our nascent democracy is facing challenges.”
