Residents of Ekae Community particularly traders and the leaders of the Edo Market Women Association were enthusiastic as they celebrated the potential opportunities provided by the commissioning of Ekae Market for economic transactions.

The market consist of seventy two (72) open stalls and seventy two (72) lock-up stalls, a borehole, toilet facility and a large expanse of land for squatters.

During the commissioning of the facility on the 26th February, 2021, chairman of Oredo Local Government Council of Edo State, Hon. Evbareke Jenkins Osunde, whose administration undertook the construction of the facility, remarked that “the completion of the market was an earnest fulfillment of the promise made to the community regarding the establishment of a modern and clean trading location to boost socio-economic life in Ekae and surrounding communities.”

The building and upgrading of market infrastructure in different parts of the local government area was also in tandem with Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki’s uplifting vision to ensure that all forms of Street trading are abolished and that traders particularly market women were availed of secured location to conduct their business.

Counterpart funds have been paid to Community and Social Development Project(CSDP) by the Hon. Osunde-led Council to build a modern market at Umegbe and Evbuovbioba communities.
