His Royal Highness, Henry Binidodogha, the Ojuaga 1 of Egbema Clan in Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State and those sympathetic to him have allegedly been given a 7days ultimatum to step down from his stool or have themselves to blame.

This threat message is said to be coming from some youths who claim to be members of the Ijaw Youths Council(IYC) acting out the script of some prominent Ijaw chiefs and elders from Delta State (names withheld).

An eye witness told Popular News that on the day in question, Saturday, January 9th, 2021, three 200 horsepower speed boats filled with more than 200 youths believed to be mostly members of the Ijaw Youths Council(IYC) from Delta State, chanting war songs and brandishing battle axes and sophisticated weapons, stormed Ofunama and some surrounding communities in Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State.

Their mission we learnt was to cause mayhem and maim whoever they feel is supporting the recent ascendancy to the kingship position of Ojuaga 1 of Egbema Clan, His Royal Highness, Henry Ekebilegha Binidodogha.

One of their ports of call was the jetty and security post of the security company owned by the monarch. When they got there they allegedly chased out everybody within the place, destroyed valuable electronic gadgets, equipments etc.

Infact, they were said to be on the verge of setting the place ablaze when some people of goodwill confronted them and stopped them from carrying out the evil plot.

Thereafter, they went to the neighbouring communities and started attacking some sympathisers of the monarch inflicting life threatening injuries on them in the process.

Our source said that a few days before Saturday they had been warned that the threesome prominent chiefs(names withheld) from Delta State were planning to hold a meeting in Ofunama (Edo State) and the information had been passed on to the police who warned against such an action.

But the police intervention was ignored by the chiefs who nonetheless went ahead to do the meeting and shipped in youths from the neighbouring Delta State to cause mayhem.

Addressing a media chat, Chief Thomas Atigbi Abel, a prominent chief from Ofunama, called on the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu and other security chiefs to step into the crisis before it degenerates as the people of Ofunama are presently living in fear of the unknown based on the 7 days ultimatum that they have been issued by the marauding invaders who have also gone ahead to issue a publication listing the names and identities of their targets.

“We are experiencing all these attacks because of our pronouncement that we recognise the Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare 11, as the supreme king of Edo State,” Chief Atigbi concluded.
