December, time of the year when Barrister Kenneth Imansuangbon (aka The Riceman) shares rice and other freebies to the people of Edo State across the 18 local government areas that make up the state, is fast approaching.
Being a man that keeps to the promises he makes no matter the odds and not minding that rice is a staple food that is fast disappearing from the dinning tables, Barrister Imansuangbon is not changing course in his avowed annual humanitarian gesture.
On 16th November the Labour Party(LP) gubernatorial hopeful wrote a letter to the Chairman of the party in Edo State seeking for his permission to tour the 18 local government areas and share rice to “our party faithfuls.”
The letter, which was also copied the party’s National Chairman, National Working Committee members, the 18 local government chairmen and 192 ward chairmen, went thus:
“To the glory of God’s faithfulness and His kindness, my family and I have in the past 20 years shown little kindness through the distribution of rice and other things to the people of Edo State.
“This year I am elated and thankful that I am extending this kind gesture once again across the 18 local government areas of our dear state as a Labour Party (LP) member but more importantly I will be seeking your permission to visit the LP Secretariat to distribute rice as this has been my tradition in the past 20 years.
“Please find attached, the schedule of my movement so as to enable you give directives to all local government chairmen and its executives; ward chairmen and its executives; as well as two leaders of each ward on this victorious tour.”
Barrister Imansuangbon’s gesture is a confirmation of his desire to ensure that he implements a people oriented governance system when he gets to Osadebey Avenue next year.
