The good people of Edo South,
Thank you for your belief in me and my party. We have campaigned for the past five months, and we have seen firsthand what bad governance has done to our society, poverty and insecurity staring at us, but | also saw that our people were seeking a government that would bring them comfort; the Labour Party was that party.
AS a party, we knew the people were with us and we would win, and we were also certain the other parties would use violence or whatever vice they could concoct to subvert the will of the people. We saw pockets of this in Oredo here in Edo State and on a large scale in Lagos and Rivers.
As a party, we were continually reminded that we were wasting our time since there was no structure. This reminded me of the Bible story of David, although in our case, we had two Goliaths and could not have killed them with one stone; each of you was the stone we needed to destroy the Goliaths.
My commitment to the people of Edo South is to represent you honestly and with sincerity. To do so, | will organize town hall meetings across the seven local governments in Edo South. Through proper legislation, | aim to strengthen the institutions of our government and also bring constituency projects to our people. In my opinion, our diaspora population shouldn’t have to travel down to vote; the auditor-general’s office should be strengthened to ensure that corruption is prevented in government; our institutions need to be stronger than those who hold power, and these are what will remain with me.
