Police investigating killing of Physiotherapist in Benin

Having lost millions of naira to undergo scores of failed operations for Vivian Odiase to be delivered of quadruplets(three boys and a girl), Izioge Odiase (the widower) an indigene of Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State and Mrs. Osaro Guobadia(mother of the deceased) are tired and weary as they trudge the city of Benin in search of kind hearted individuals who can be of assistance in caring for the babies and also offsetting the debt they incurred from LAPO Microfinance Bank.

They have by stroke of God’s divine intervention gotten in contact with the Office of the First Lady of Edo State, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki.

Vivian, who was married to Izioge Odiase, a 41 year old artisan, barely a year into her marriage died on Monday, January 16th, 2023, after been delivered of the four babies through Caesarean Section(CS) operation.

Vivian’s mother narrated how she was moved from Lily Hospital to Ojogbon Hospital then University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) doing IVF and the likes to the tune of millions of naira but to no avail.

Mrs. Guobadia recalled that on the day before the tragic loss of her daughter(Sunday, January 15th, 2023) she had a long convivial conversation with her on her sickbed at the UBTH. She stated that in line with the hospital management’s policy of not permitting anyone staying the night with patient she had to reluctantly leave her around 7pm with a promise to return early the next morning.

She disclosed that at around 5.30am the next day as she was getting set return to see her daughter at the hospital, Vivian called her in a fidgety voice informing her that they were about transferring her to the operation room. She said that she had to calm Vivian’s nerves telling her that nothing bad would happen to her.

“When I got to the hospital I was told that my daughter need fresh blood. I immediately put a call to my siblings and seven of them came in a jiffy. They went to the backroom to do the blood donation. The process of matching the blood type took such a long time and at a stage I decided to go and see my daughter but the doctors and nurses prevented me from doing that.”

She said she was shocked to later learn that Vivian was dead because she had no idea of any complication in the outcome of her delivery of the quadruplets.

“My major challenge now is that the management of LAPO Microfinance Bank from where I secured the millions of naira with which I paid for Vivian’s failed treatments have been calling me and demanding for repayment.”
