As part of the activities to ensure peace, law and order in Edo State, the Chairman, Board Members and Management Staff ofeas Development Commission (EDSOGPADEC) in line with the directive of Governor Godwin Obaseki paid a courtesy visit to the Office of the state Chief Judge, Hon. Chief Justice Amenaghawon Esther Edigin to keep her abreast with the on-going building projects of the Customary and Magistrate Courts in the three (3) Oil and Gas Producing Local Government Areas in the State.

Speaking, the Chairman of the commission, Pastor Kennedy Osifo, said that the governor has directed that the dilapidated High Court at Abudu in Orhionmwon Local Government Area should be reconstructed, considering the fact that Abudu is the headquarters of Orhionmwon, it should be given the best.

He continued that as a result of the dilapidated building, EDSOGPADEC, has come up with a design for a modern High Court like that of the High Court in Benin because Orhionmwon  is one of the Oil Producing local government areas in Edo State.

He equally brought to the knowledge of the Chief Judge that the Customary Court in Urhuehue and Magistrate Court in Urhonigbe (Orhionmwon) have been completed.  The Customary Court in Oduna and Magistrate Court in Okada (Ovia North East Local Government Area) have been completed also while the Magistrate Court in Idogbo is completed but the Customary Court in Ologbo is on-going both in Ikpoba-Okha LGA.

He emphasized that these completed courts will be well furnished to standard before they will be properly handed over to the appropriate quarters.

Pastor Osifo reiterated that Governor Obaseki has instructed that the design should be brought to the Chief Judge for her viewing and corrections before they proceed with the project.

Responding, Hon. Chief Justice Edigin commended EDSOGPADEC for the work so far in respect of the various court buildings.

She solicited that in the design of the reconstruction of the High Court in Abudu, the Commission should add a Customary and Magistrate Courts for quick dispensation of justice and importantly a residential quarter should not be left out because this will salvage the situation of the judges plying the highway everyday which is not too safe.
