Why Obaseki has refused to pay our entitlements for six months, aggrieved councillor reveals

Kingsley Topa Ogini, the councillor representing Ward 1 in Akoko Edo Local Government Council of Edo State, has stated that he and other councillors spread across the 18 local government councils of the state who refused to follow Governor Godwin Obaseki when he moved from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) have been made to suffer needlessly for almost half a year for their stance.

He disclosed that when the call came that all the councillors elected on the platform of the APC and other political office holders should decamp from the former to the later he was one of the six councillors from Akoko Edo Local Government Council who refused to heed the order.

“I was one of the six councillors who decided to stay back in the APC on whose platform we were elected. The remaining four councillors who defected to the PDP soon held a kangaroo sitting where they claimed that they have suspended us and also the Vice Chairman of the council whom they replaced with another person.

“We were not paid for five months prior to the governorship election held on Saturday, September 19th, 2020. We thought that there would be some kind of reconciliation after the poll and we would all be paid our due. 

“However, till date there has been nothing of such. We have been going through pains and all our efforts to get our entitlements has been unsuccessful,” he disclosed.
