The leadership of the People’s Redemption Party(PRP) in Edo State has charged the people of the state to do away with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) saying that it “has come to stay in Edo State and we offer better alternative leadership regarding good governance to the good people of Edo State. We are sincerely committed to improving the lives of the people if given the opportunity.”

In a statement signed by the Chairman, Greg Igbinomwanhia and the Secretary, Jeffrey Imonmoin, the PRP said:

“That members of the state exco of the party should engage on aggressive membership drive across the 18 L.G.A of the state and encourage all Edo people to embrace the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) and do away with APC and PDP that have caused untold hardship in the lives of the people.

“The People’s Redemption Party (PRP) appreciate the performance of Mr. Godwin Obaseki’s administration for the little he has done but insist there are much rooms for improvement.

“We in PRP appreciate that the Governor is not a traditional Nigerian politician but a financial technocrat. We however advise him not to allow the influence of the (PDP) politicians around him to overwhelm him but be determined to deliver the actual gains of democracy to the people.

“We are aware that the lure of office and the attraction of partisan interest may sway the governor to be tempted to act like a typical Nigerian politician, we urge him to resist this and be focused so that the ‘talakawas’ will not continue to suffer at the end

“The People’s Redemption Party (PRP) is calling specifically on the State Governor to do well in the area of drainage as most areas in Edo State are usually flooded when rain falls across the state.

“ln the area of Education, the governor should do more in providing qualified teachers and ensuring quality education for all including the children of the poor masses as promised in his campaign

“We can recall that when the governor came on board he promised to use all Primary Health Centers(PHC) as pilot program and that the Governor should not forget this especially as we have not seen much progress in this direction. The Governor should make sure that every citizen in Edo State has access to quality and affordable health care in the state which for now seems to be scarce.

“We want to particularly draw the Governor’s attention to the pathetic condition at the specialist hospital in Benin. The Specialist Hospital has one stretcher, the roof is leaking, no mattress, there is poor sanitation around the environment, there is high cost of drugs, there is poor attitude to work by of Nurses and Doctors. Infact the situation is quite terrible. People who go there mildly ill leave there seriously sick

“We call on the Governor to quickly declare a state of emergency in the Health sector in Edo State. It is not enough to erect a high standard, modern hospital where only the rich can afford side by side a poorly equipped and poorly funded one where only the poor can go and kill themselves

“The People’s Redemption Party (PRP) has come to stay in Edo State and we offer better alternative leadership regarding good governance to the good people of Edo State. We are sincerely committed to improving the lives of the people if given the opportunity.”
