Traders Welfare boss warns public of criminals ploy

Chairman of the Traders Welfare Union of Nigeria, Comrade Lucky Orukpe, has warned Edolites, and indeed Nigerians, to be on the alert whenever they transact business and use their ATM card to pay for what they purchase as some unscrupulous people may end up defrauding them.

He said a lot of people have fallen victim of such criminal tendency in the past. He called on the law enforcement agents to be on their feet at times to checkmate such criminal individuals.

He made the call when he led hundreds of the association’s members to handover a petition to the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Philip Aliyu Ogbadu, on behalf of one of its members who was a victim of such a crime recently.

SP Kontongs Bello, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, who received the petition on behalf of his boss, promised that the Command would look into their complaints while advising people to be careful anytime they are transacting business and using their ATM card to offset payment.

Bello averred that the need to be careful in such instances cannot be overemphasised especially as criminals devise different games to outsmart people.
