Zonal Coordinator of the South South Zone of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Peter Njoku, has predicted that one of the states in the zone will win the forthcoming National Sports Festival slated for Ogun State in May.
He made the prediction on the occasion of a press briefing to herald the commencement of the South South Zonal Eliminations of Ball Games for the National Sports Festival held in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
Njoku stated that the South South is the hub of sports in Nigeria and thanked the Edo State Government for accepting to host the elimination games even at a very short notice.
Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Desmond Enabulele, asserted that the elimination games is a crucial stage in the forthcoming National Sports Festival.
He gave kudos to the Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo and his deputy, Dennis Idahosa, for their proactive approach to sports development in the state.
Enabulele described sports as a powerful tool, stressing that the power should be harnessed. He charged the participating teams to produce their best and let their performance express itself for all to see.
