Shaibu’s kinsmen in diaspora admonish Obaseki

Uzairue sons and daughters based in the diaspora have written a strongly worded letter to Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on the issue of his face off with the ex-deputy governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu.

In the letter signed by Engr. Gideon Osiregbeme, President of a group of Uzairue sons and daughters in diaspora, Governor Obaseki was adviced “to be weary of his actions and desperation against our sons.”

They asserted that “the news of Governor Godwin Obaseki’s relentless attacks and threats against the Uzairue sons is a disturbing message to all of us in diaspora, stirring a deep sense of unease and foreboding. The Governor’s recent illegal impeachment of Philip Shaibu, our cherished son of Uzairue, which was followed by the Governor ruthless order to demolish Philip Shaibu’s security post in Benin, served as chilling reminders of the governor’s true intentions.

“It is a glaring evidence to the Uzairue sons and daughters in the diaspora that Governor Obaseki’s actions were not merely rooted in the realm of politics but extended into a darker territory where his personal vendettas has clouded the pathway to justice and fairness. The governor’s relentless pursuit of Philip Shaibu speaks volumes of a quest not only to derail our son’s political journey but also to endanger his very life.

“To this end, we, the Uzairue community in the diaspora, are raising our voices in unison for justice and protection for our beloved son, Comrade Philip Shaibu. We call on the appropriate security authorities at the federal level, urging you to intervene and safeguard the life of our son against the looming shadow of danger around him.”

Going further, they stated: “We are not unaware of Obaseki’s betrayal of Oshiomhole which also sent ripples of shock and dismay through the community of Uzairue, leaving wounds that cut deep into the fabric of trust and honor.

“But Obaseki plot has now thickened as his focus shifted to another son of Uzairue, Comrade Philip Shaibu, who had stood by Obaseki like a loyal shield, guarding him through trials and tribulations, day and night.

“It is glaring that Governor Obaseki’s actions speaks volumes of his intentions, painting a portrait of a leader willing to sacrifice an Uzairue son in the pursuit of his own ambitions. This we condemn in strong term.”

Comrade Philip Shaibu hails from Uzairue, a community situated in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
